Koalas become lesbian in captivity
Australian researchers have discovered why it is so difficult to breed koalas in captivity. It seems that the female koalas turn lesbian, when they are taken from the wild.
Scientists of Queensland University observed 130 female koalas in zoos. With cameras they determined that three of the four romps did not include any male.
So far, no explanation has been found, though it is certain that males do not become homosexual in captivity. There is, however, one redeeming feature: the one out of four that they are included, the love-play lasts twice as long.
