On the bookshelf
Cats are favoured pets, but some felines are wild animals. This book examines the cat in a very broad context. The author seeks to apply insights on domesticated cats to understand wild felines, and vice versa.
Wild cats are the focus of three chapters of the book, in which large cats as well as smaller and lesser-known species are addressed. Specific chapters delve into cat neuroethology and reproduction. The discussion of cat welfare and its origins forms a basis for information on abnormal behaviour, and on issues essential to cat welfare.
