The first and second chapter gives an appraisal on feeding guidelines. It describes Weende and Van Soests analysis conducted for nutritional analysis. Third chapter discusses how determining the dietary metabolizable energy. The forth chapter describes feed quality. In chapter five animal mass and metabolic rates of selected mamma Is, few birds and reptiles in general are provided. The list for birds and reptiles should have inciuded more of animals from the Indian subcontinent. The sixth chapter describes blood values (He, Ca, P, Na, K, Cl, Fe, Mg, Cr, UA, GL, Ch, TR) for 184 mammalian species and 18 of bird species. The list of mammalian species includes most of the common mammalian species found in Indian subcontinent. The seventh chapter describes recommendations part of the booklet, recommended diet for various mammais, birds, reptiles and fish. The food given at various zoos for mammais, birds and reptiles has been analyzed in terms of their diet value, in particular the amount of nutrients like CP, CF, NDF, Ca, P, Mg, Cu, Zn, Fe, Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin E in animal diets to be provided is presented in eighth chapter. The ninth chapter describes the process of producing a pellet. In the tenth chapter describes how to calculate a diet. Example for the nutritional evaluation has been given. Similar evaluation can be made for the other animais. The eleventh chapter is a compendium of food produets and commercial advertisements. The twelfth chapter describes translation and abbreviations. The thirteenth chapter describes useful addresses of feed manufacturers and web address of organizations working on anima I nutrition. The literature review has been described in fourteenth chapter which is necessary to set-up a weil balanced diet. The European Zoo Nutrition Centre deserves the credit for making beautiful print and paper quality. I would recommend it to the Zoos, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centres, Feed Manufacturers and Researchers working in the field of animal nutrition.
