Milder and persistent pruritus, while consuming a strict elimination diet, confirmed atopic dermatitis also was related to airborne environmental triggers identified by intradermal allergy testing. Ultimately, atopy was controlled successfully by antihistamines and transmucosal immunotherapy for 7 yr after diagnosis.
